Zoom's chat capabilities allow for written communication during the meeting.

You can send private or group messages. The host can control who participants can chat with or block it entirely.

The content of the chat can be saved to your personal computer.

Using chat:

Click Chat in the bottom bar.

The chat window will open. You can write your message and send it to all participants in this window.

Alternatively, you can click the button next to the word "To" and select the participant to whom the message is intended.

When a new message is sent in chat, an orange notification appears in the toolbar:

Change chat settings:

During the meeting, click "Chat" in the bottom toolbar, click "More" for additional options.

The menu will contain the following options:

  • Save chat.
  • Share a file in meeting.
  • Allow attendees to chat with:
    • Nobody - Blocks the chat option.
    • Host only - Participants' messages are visible to the host only.
    • Everyone publicly - Attendees will be able to send messages to everyone and everyone will see all messages sent to the group.
    • Everyone publicly and privately - Group messages and private messages can be sent between users.
