Importing grades to the website

Step 1 – Export

To prevent problems and glitches in data entry, you must first export a template into which you will enter the grades. Follow the steps described in "Exporting Grades to Excel."

Step 2 – Entering the data into the file

1. Open the Excel file created during the export phase.

2. For each new grade component, create a column with a meaningful name (this is the name that will later be displayed on the grade sheet on the website).

3. Enter the desired grades into each column.

4. Make sure that the student ID card numbers are listed with 9 digits. If not, define the ID card column in this manner.

5. Save the file in CVS (comma delimited) format.

Step 3 – Import

1. Return to the "Grades" tab in the course (as in the export step)

2. On the page that opens, select "Import" and from the secondary menu select "Import as CVS file".

"Import CVS" page

3. Drag the file you created in the previous step into the box labeled "File".

4. In "Encoding", select "Windows-1252".

5. Click "Upload Grades".

6. In the next step, the system will ask for an explanation regarding the mapping of the fields. The ID card is mapped into the "ID Number" field and the new grades are defined as "New grade item". All other fields - leave as "Ignore".

Confirm. Now all the grade components you entered will appear on the grade sheet.
