Before starting the checking, assuming that all submissions have been completed, it is recommended to:

A. Hide the assignment (in edit mode: Edit -> Hide) until the test process is complete. When finished, you can unhide it (in edit mode: Edit -> Show) and thus reveal the grades and comments to all students at once.

B. Set a final submission date in the assignment settings (select a cut-off date). This way, students will not be able to upload additional files or replace existing files.

1. Enter the desired assignment. On this page, you will see a status summary as follows:

The assignment page with a grading summary

2. Click on "View all submissions" to view a summary table of all students and their submissions.

If the table is empty - check if your filter is enabled and if so, cancel it. Also, look for the "Reset Table" link in the upper left corner and click on it. The display will be reset and the table will appear with a list of all participants and submissions.

You can see all the details of all students, what their submission status is, change the grade only, write comments or check the submission file.

  • To quickly enter grades - go to the students, enter the grades in the appropriate panel and save at the end.

Option 1: Checking assignments from the website

1. Click on "Grade" in the row of the desired student.

2. The next page displays all the information about the student's submission:

Grading page has the submission on the left and information about the submission on the right

  • Left side: The submission file itself is displayed, with controls above it that allow you to move between pages of the file, add various markups, highlights, and notes with comments. Note that if you add a note with a comment that is repeated many times during the test, you can add it to a quick list of notes and then add it from the list to other students.

Controls above the submission file are shown in red rectangles

  • Right side: Information about the submission (whether it was submitted, when, whether it was reviewed, link to download the submission file), place to enter a grade, place to add general written comments, and place to add a feedback file (if you wrote a file with comments for the student, you can upload it here). At the top, navigate between different students by using the arrows or writing the name of the next student.

The fields "Change user", "Grade", "Feedback comments" and "Feedback files" are shown in red rectangles

3. During the test, you can mark the notes and markings directly on the file, and/or write notes on the side, as well as add a file with feedback. Enter the desired grade. When finished, save.

4. You can move on to the next assignment using the arrows in the upper left.

Option 2: Download submissions to your PC, check offline, and return feedback files to students

For this option to be available, the following setting must be checked in the assignment settings.

"Offline grading worksheet" is marked in "Feedback types" and is shown in a red rectangle

1. 1. After clicking on "View all submissions" on the Assignment Review page - you will be taken to a page where a table of all students and their submissions is displayed.

2. You can select the submissions you want to review or all of them at the beginning of the list, then below the list there is a selection box with several options. Select "Download Selected Submissions" and click the "Go" button to download the submission files to your personal computer.

"Download selected submissions" option in the drop-down menu is shown in a red rectangle

Additionally, download the grade sheet to your computer by selecting the box above the student list "Download grading worksheet":

3. The submission files are downloaded in the form of a zip folder. Open the folder using winzip or any other software that allows this.

4. Go to one of the files, check the work and mark the comments on it. Save. At the same time, update the grade for the appropriate student in the grade sheet file. Do this for all the submissions.

Please note, the structure and names of the files should not be changed during the checking process.

5. At the end of the checking process, compress the folder back to zip.

6. Now return to the checking page and in the selection box select "Upload multiple feedback files in a zip". This action will associate the files as feedback files for the students (each one has its own).

"Upload multiple feedback files in a zip" option in the drop-down menu is shown in a red rectangle

7. Save the grade file in CSV (comma delimited) format and upload it to the site by selecting "Upload grading worksheet". On the file upload page, select Windows-1252 encoding.

In the "Upload grading worksheet" menu "WINDOWS-1252" option in "encoding" is shown in a red rectangle

8. Confirm.

If the review process is complete - unhide the assignment and students will be able to view the grade and feedback they received (each person sees only their own).
