Option 2 - Auto Attendance
"Auto Attendance" is another resource that allows for manual or automatic attendance marking.
This resource does not allow the use of QR codes, but on the other hand allows for dividing participants into groups and displaying their attendance in a grouped/filtered manner. Below are instructions for working with the resource:
Step A – Adding an "Auto Attendance" block
A. Go to the main page of the course and activate edit mode (green button in the top bar)
B. At the top, click the "Add a block" button
C. Select "Auto Attendance Block" from the menu
Step B – Adding an “Auto Attendance” Activity
A. Select the appropriate learning unit (it is usually convenient to place the component at the top, under the “Message Board”).
B. Click “Add an activity or resource".
C. In the floating menu, select “Auto Attendance” and click “Add”.
D. Define a name for the activity and save.
Step C – Adding Sessions
A. Enter the attendance activity that was created in the previous step
B. On the page that opens, go to the “Add Session” tab
C. The following page will open:
Fill in the required information:
- Method: If you want to allow independent attendance marking by the learners – leave it on "Semi Auto". If the lecturer/practitioner wants to mark attendance themselves (for example, reading names and marking) – select "Manual"
- To create a single session, uncheck "Create multiple sessions"
- Session Start Date is the date of the first session
- Session End Date is the date of the last session
- Session Days is the day of the week on which the meeting takes place
- Period – leave it on 1 week to create meetings every week
- Start Time – from what time attendance marking should be enabled
- Duration – for how long from the start time attendance marking should be enabled
- Late Time – after this time from the start of the session instead of "present" the system will record the marking as "late"
- Attendance Keyword – if you do not want a password – uncheck "Random Key"
- Allowed IPs – you can limit the IP addresses from which automatic attendance marking is enabled
D. Click on "Add Session"
Update Session Details
A. You need to enter the attendance activity
B. In the default "Sessions" tab, you can see all the sessions that have been defined so far.
C. You can mark a specific meeting and delete it:
D. You can go into the session settings and change them.
E. You can change the presence marking manually:
Reports
A. You need to enter the attendance activity
B. In the "Report" tab, you can see the attendance status of all learners in all sessions.
C. You can also download this report in Excel format or as a text file
