Option 1 - Student Attendance
"Attendance" is the basic resource of moodle, allowing manual marking of attendance by the lecturer/practitioner or by the students themselves. The options for self-marking are by scanning a QR code or entering a random password. Below are instructions for using this resource.
Step A – Adding an "Attendance" activity
A. Enter the main page of the course and activate edit mode (green button in the top bar, right side)
B. In the appropriate learning unit, click on "Add an activity or resource" and from the menu select "Attendance".
C. Define a name for the activity and save.
Step B – Adding sessions
A. Click on the link for the attendance resource
B. Go to the "Add session" tab
C. Define the date of the meeting or meetings, the duration of each meeting, the frequency of the meetings, etc.
D. Under the heading Student Recording, students should be allowed to enter attendance in person "Allow students to record own attendance"
E. In the Student Password line, select both options (Include QR code and Random password)
F. Save
Step 3 – Marking Class Attendance
The following steps must be performed on a computer connected to the classroom projector.
A. During class, access the attendance resource link
B. Find the relevant meeting in the sessions list
C. In the row on the left, click on the QR code icon and it will be projected on the screen.
Students can scan the code using their devices or alternatively enter the course site on moodle, click on the resource link and enter the password that is projected along with the code.
Updating session details
A. Go to the attendance activity
B. Locate the desired session
C. You can delete the meeting by clicking on the trash can icon in the appropriate row or update details by clicking on the gear icon in its row
Reports
You can view the attendance reports in the "Reports" tab or export them to Excel in the "Export" tab.
